Humanities TO GO!
Hill Country Abandonment

Speaker: Marcia Schmidt Blaine

Date: 9/24/08, Wednesday
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Old Church Building, Piermont

The population of early 19th-century Piermont was prosperous and growing. Farmers, the vast majority of the population, produced a marketable surplus. Just before the Civil War, the population of New England declined precipitously. Why did this happen? Learn how communities reflected a region-wide "abandonment" of hearth and home.

COME and enjoy the talk and refreshments.
